Impact
Mrs. Van Velsor moved to Wrightsville Beach in the 1970’s and easily adapted to its casual lifestyle, beauty and politics. She served on Wrightville Beach Parks and Recreation Advisory committee during the initial develop of the current park. She began and guided the “ Adopt A Soldier in Iraq” program for which she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year. Jean was secretary of the NC Jazz Festival for twenty years and manager of Sea Oats at Wrightsville Beach. Ms. Van Velsor’s endowed scholarship with CFCC was established in 2017.
