ghsFoundation - Sam Perry Scholarship
The Foundation established the scholarship in honor of Sam Perry, a physician’s assistant (PA), whose specialized medical care earned him deep respect from both patients and peers throughout his career.
The Granville Health System Board of Trustees and Granville Health System Foundation Board support and manage the scholarship in order to promote Sam Perry’s legacy of compassionate care and personal leadership by providing financial help to Granville County residents pursuing an allied health field career.
The scholarship recipients are selected by the Foundation Board using an established criterion.
Sam Perry graduated from the Agricultural Institute of NC State University. He was a field medic in the United States Army while serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. Sam graduated from the Surgical Technician / Surgeon’s Assistant program at NC Memorial Hospital at UNC- Chapel Hill.
For more than 30 years, Sam went on to serve Granville community, working tirelessly to advance Granville Health System’s services and provide medical care with the utmost compassion. His work ethic was exceptional, his leadership essential, his service extraordinary, and his love for his fellow man exemplary.
