Dear Ms. Musser and Ms. Cox

Impact

“Dean Goodyear was by far the most intelligent, most refreshingly kind, most overwhelmingly loving, and truly most gentle human being that this world ever had the privilege of knowing. We all know that he was a big guy, but the truth is, his presence, heart, and impact on people he crossed paths with was even bigger. He had this way about him that, even if you only knew him for a brief moment, he had this long-lasting effect on you. He was so spiritual and in-tune with things of this world that not many people can understand and most don’t even notice. He just got it all somehow, and he went about his life with such grace and such joy that it was contagious to those around him.” -AC

This film & video scholarship in memory of Dean reflects his love of all types videography, dynamic personality, and innate artistic view with the lens: From Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi to David Bowie’s ‘The Labyrinth’, Dean had a wide variety of favorite movies and actors which shows his love for any and all good movies no matter the genre. His passion encompassed not only the silver screen, but utilized his talents in the Wilmington film scene while working on the sets of Sleepy Hollow and Six.
Even though Dean was always behind the camera in the Film industry, his friends always believed he should have been in front of the camera. Dean had this infectious animated demeanor and was truly the best at impressions, accents and voices. Our hope is Dean’s legacy scholarship and love of the industry will support, encourage, and inspire CFCC Film & Video students to accomplish their educational and career goals. -AC

“I am currently in the Film and Video production program and I hope to have a career in the film industry once I graduate. Your investment in my academic success means a great deal to me, and I hope to be given the opportunity to thank you in person.” AGJ. 2019 Dean Goodyear Scholarship Recipient
