The Carolyn DeVane Hardie Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is for a Nursing student with a 3.0 GPA with demonstrated financial need. The scholarship may be used for nursing books, fees, supplies and other program requirements available in the CFCC Bookstore.
Mrs. Carolyn DeVane Hardie, LPN of Wilmington lived to the age of 87. Carolyn was born in Bladen County, graduated from Garland High School in 1950, then became a proud graduate of the School of Nursing at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC in 1969. She went on to enjoy a 30 career on the women’s floor at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Carolyn was highly regarded by her colleagues and well-known to take excellent care of her patients. It was only befitting that she died at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, where she was surrounded by not only family, but other loving nurses who provided compassionate care to her in her final days.
In her spare time she loved bowling, quilting, rocking babies and sitting at the dog park. Her family most remembers her beautiful smile and her ability to make everyone feel very special and loved. She was blessed with five children, nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She would encourage the scholarship recipient to make the most of life, be thankful for each day.
