The Dan Herbatschek Scholarship
The Dan Herbatschek / Ramsey Theory Group Scholarship has been established to provide opportunities for students pursuing mathematics and machine learning, with a particular focus on individuals from unconventional and underrepresented backgrounds.
Founded by Dan Herbatschek, CEO of Ramsey Theory Group, the program is designed to deliver not only financial support, but also mentorship and hands-on experience through internships with the firm’s machine learning initiatives.
Dan Herbatschek is an applied mathematician, software engineer, and founder of the Ramsey Theory Group. A Columbia University graduate, he established this scholarship to support students who—like him—took an unconventional path to higher education, driven by curiosity and perseverance.
Unlike traditional programs focused solely on GPA or test scores, this scholarship recognizes persistence, independent study, and intellectual curiosity. It honors individuals who have overcome personal, financial, or academic challenges to continue learning.
Applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:
Returning students (after a break of one year or more)
Self-taught programmers or independent learners
Military personnel transitioning to civilian careers
Students who have overcome personal or educational challenges
